Research
Research projects include general research and UX research, including remote and moderated user testing, ethnographic research, stakeholder interviews, heuristic evaluation, cognitive walkthroughs, as well as customer development, product integrity testing, and business intelligence.
Information Architecture
Information Architecture projects entail the design of structured information spaces with a goal to make the complex clear. This includes developing navigation schemes, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and creating optimal information flow and layout.
Business Development and Outreach
I create and manage Business Development and Outreach programs with the goal toward connecting technology leaders and practitioners across industry, government and the startup ecosystem.
Data Science and Mapping
20+ years of experience in the Data Science and Mapping, including projects for urban planning and infrastructure, emergency response, and digital archiving of 9/11 geographic materials. I have been a board member of GISMO since 2013.
Mentoring
Mentoring program development and management for the Technology Transfer Days, OWASP Foundation, Information Architecture Institute, Women in Open Source and Columbia College Women. Everyone should have a mentor! See my The Occasional Mentor blog posts.
Hackathons
I have run and advised on Hackathons and collaborative learning events for years as a planner, coach, and team mentor. My favorite programs, like Essteem Equalithon and UX Jam, often have a social impact theme.
